Great Sea Commission
MEDITERRANEAN BASIN & BEYOND
The Great Sea Commission, an equipping ministry led by Jonathan and Christie Swift, trains leaders and their churches to discover the heart of God in the word of God in the Mediterranean basin and beyond.
The Bible calls the Mediterranean “the Great Sea.” Dominated by secularism, traditionalism, and Islam, the people of the Great Sea region need the gospel more than ever. Imagine a ministry modeled after the Great Commission (Mat 28:18-20) and Paul’s missionary journeys with Priscilla and Aquila, equipping, strengthening, and encouraging local leaders and their churches and “explaining the way of God more accurately,” (Acts 18:27). This is GSC's longing for the churches of the same region today.
In close partnership with several international ministries, the Great Sea Commission works from an Antioch-like (Acts 13:1-3) base of operations in Greece, with local churches in Greece, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, and Spain (so far). Part of GSC's strategy includes taking Bible training and discipleship by sailing vessels to remote, under-reached, and restricted access places needing gospel-proclaiming churches.
If you share the Great Sea Commission’s desire to see the Mediterranean region renewed by the Gospel, please partner with them through prayer and giving.
