Virgilio Gallo

Virgilio is serving in leadership at a young, gospel-centered church called Nuova Vita, Salerno. Salerno is situated in the southwest part of Italy, between the Mediterranean Sea and the beautiful inland mountains of Cava. Much like the rest of Italy, it has had a long history of Catholic tradition and is therefore a very challenging spiritual climate for the spread of the gospel. In addition to this, the culture has been deeply impacted by a post-Christian worldview that sees spiritual matters as irrelevant. 

Like many other evangelical churches throughout Italy, our church represents the less than 1% of confessing evangelical Christians. Our church was planted by an American missionary couple in 2011 and is now transitioning to a fully Italian leadership team. We are very passionate about gospel-centered discipleship, preaching, and being a vibrant mission to our city. 

Virgilio has a heart for this region of Italy. It is where he was born and raised. And, he loves Nuova Vita because it is where he was baptized and has grown as a Christian. Now, Virgilio serves in the leadership of the church. His focus is on shepherding the flock, and on the discipleship and evangelism of those both inside and outside the church. He also is on the preaching team, and together with his wife Serena, he leads a community group where Italians can share and center their lives together around the gospel.
